How To Stop Procrastination Before It Starts

Everyone talks about fixing their procrastination habit – usually, after they are already struggling with a block that is keeping them from doing or achieving what they really want from life.

But what if there was a way to stop procrastination before it even began?

Or catch it just as it is about to take root in your mind?

The key is to observe yourself as you are thinking about what it is you want to do.

You may be thinking, for example, about starting a new business. If you observe yourself saying one aspect of that project “is hard,” or any kind of excuse, what you are doing is installing a limiting belief in your mind.

And that limiting belief will transform itself in your mind into the block that makes you procrastinate from even starting!

If you take the time to do an inventory of several things you procrastinate about, you will likely find that the root cause of all your struggles will be one, or several limiting beliefs that are keeping you from getting started!

Armed with this awareness of the way your own mind operates, you can easily being to conquer all the areas of your life where you procrastinate.

First, you are now able to be vigilant over your own thoughts and words regarding new areas of your life you want to conquer. If you obverse a limiting idea about something you want to do, you can stop and simply observe that thought.

Then you can say something like, “that may or may not be true,” and then resolve to act on your idea without the baggage of that belief. And then you will be able to find out for yourself the truth of the situation.

As for areas of your life where you may already be procrastinating, just take a moment to ask yourself what is the root limiting belief that is keeping you from getting started. And then, again, you can say, “that may or may not be true, but I am going to take action and find out for myself.”

And then get down to work – easily and with the knowledge that you are always in charge of your thoughts and the ability to move confidently in the direction of your goals.

Here are two Brandt Affirmations you can use to help you stop procrastination before it even begins:

“Awareness of one’s thoughts are the seeds to controlling one’s thoughts”

and

“Knowledge is not power, but the Understanding of knowledge is power.”
